It brings together structural stability, sensory comfort, and thoughtful pressure distribution — making it a reassuring choice for both horse and rider.

The full cheek design is a trusted ally for horses still learning to respond to lateral rein aids. The fixed cheeks work quietly alongside the rider's hands, offering supported guidance that feels steady and unhurried rather than abrupt. For younger or less experienced horses, this reliability helps build confidence in the contact, while the stability of the cheeks keeps the mouthpiece from shifting, encouraging soft, relaxed chewing and a willingness to accept the bridle. Riders benefit too — precise aids are easier to deliver when the mouthpiece remains consistently positioned, creating a smooth and uninterrupted connection throughout the session.

Velari's Flex Soft material speaks directly to horses that have shown resistance or tension with conventional metal bits. The outer layer is crafted from a smooth, toxin-free synthetic compound that glides gently against delicate oral tissue, protecting the sensitive structures of the mouth during daily work. Beneath this lies a flex core that yields just enough to move naturally with the horse's mouth, without sacrificing the structure needed for clear communication. Horses accustomed to switching off or bracing against harder materials often soften noticeably with Flex Soft — salivating more freely and accepting the contact with a quietness that speaks for itself.

The tongue port adds a layer of precision and relief that horses carrying sensitivity in their mouth will genuinely appreciate. Rather than pressing uniformly across the tongue, the port creates space at its centre, redirecting pressure onto the bars and offering meaningful relief to horses that are prone to fussiness, tongue evasion, or a tendency to work behind the contact. The mouthpiece holds its shape confidently under pressure, making it well suited to horses that have a habit of leaning or becoming heavy — giving the rider something dependable to work with while ensuring the horse is never overwhelmed. The result is a clarity of aid that invites cooperation rather than demanding it.

Ideal for:

Young or green horses being introduced to consistent rein contact

Horses that are sensitive, resistant, or reactive to metal bits

Horses prone to tongue evasion or that tend to stick their tongue out

Horses that lean or become heavy in softer mouthpieces

Horses in need of calm, clear lateral guidance during training

Riders working through the early stages of training or schooling

Care & Use

After each ride, rinse the bit with warm water and dry with a soft cloth.
